A tribute to the late American artist Stephen Sprouse, considered to be a pioneer of the punk and pop trend of the 1980s. He was one of the greatest artist I have come across and as you can see his work has spread to the high powered fashion house.

Marc by Marc Jacobs – Spring/Summer 09 – Arthur Backpack

marc_jacobs_arthur_2

Marc Jacobs has released a line of very functional and practical bags for men this season. However one thing that caught our eyes was the Arthur backpack. Not many people make high-end luxury backpacks anymore (even though Marc by Marc Jacobs Arthur Backpack is not too out of reach in terms of its price tag). This oversized number definitely has enough room for all your belongings and also sufficient compartments and pockets to organize them. This backpack is made from Khaki canvas with webbed cotton trim and contrasting reflective neon strips that will keep its wearer safe at night. The shoulders straps are padded and adjustable for maximum comfort and support. It is now available online at eLUXURY.

SKYY Debuts Pineapple Infused Vodka

SKYY Vodka, the super-premium purity-minded spirit in the distinctive cobalt blue bottle, has introduced the first all natural pineapple infused vodka as part of the Infusions line we premiered last summer. SKYY Infusions Pineapple is created through a proprietary process, where real fruit is infused into smooth SKYY Vodka, creating a “true-to-fruit taste experience bursting with the explosive essence of sweet Pineapple.”

It joins the SKYY Infusions portfolio of Citrus, Cherry, Passion Fruit, Raspberry and Grape vodkas, an assortment of all natural infusions made from real fruit that has been ranked #1 in taste by the prestigious Beverage Tasting Institute. Below are some cocktail recipes featuring the new elixir created by some of the country’s leading mixologists. We also like it on the rocks, especially with Thai food.

Montblanc Star Eternal Set Lady’s Watches

This set of three watches from Montblanc represents a unique collection each with emphasis on using diamonds in different aesthetic manners – showcasing three of the ways that diamonds are frequently used on women’s watches to make them (and the wearer) more beautiful. The collection is the Star Eternal Lady line of watches and includes an automatic three hand model, an automatic with a moon phase indication complication, and a quartz movement based model.

What each model shares in common is the highly decorated 18k white gold case set with diamonds all over the case including 42 on the bezel, as well as a mother of pearl dial. The Star Lady Diamonds Automatic model features a clustered dial look. In addition to the ‘galaxy’ of diamonds, there is a special array of diamonds that shapes the iconic Montblanc emblem. Next, the Star Eternal Lady Moonphase Diamonds automatic features a more traditional use of diamonds used for hour indicators as well and for rings around the various dials. The third model, being the Star Eternal Lady Diamonds with the quartz movement represents use of diamonds to create organic patterns on the bezel – a particularly common use of diamonds, but difficult to pull-off well. In total, the three watches have over 1,500 Wesselton diamonds total which amount to over 10 carats. The watches come together in a box set.

Angular Momentum Belle Époque Watch

angular-momentum-belle-epoque-watch

The Belle Epoque, or “Beautiful Era” in Europe took place during the end of the 19th century and up to World War I. It was considered a golden age for the wealthy population of Europe. The era involved excellent economic and cultural times where inexpensive labor and low (to no) taxes allowed for a semi-renaissance period in regard to the development and creation of art and scientific advancements. Free flowing money from wealthy elites helped fuel people whose lives were dedicated to simply being creative. A distinct artistic genre was borne that I consider to be a precursor of art deco. It involved imbuing more traditional formal art with a late 19th century futuristic twist.

In celebration of this era (one that we would so love to relive nowadays), Swiss watch maker Angular Momentum has created the Time Gallery Bell Époque watch. Using their new Time Gallery case, the watch is an artistic testament to the aesthetic style of choice as defined by that era. Using a 41mm wide 18k white gold case (with pave diamond settings) the majority of the watch dial is covered in an ornate foliate design enhanced by a multitude of finely cut diamonds. The decoration is placed over a black sapphire crystal. The time is read via a window placed at 12 o’clock where a disc spins once each 12 hours. Inside the watch is an automatic mechanical movement. Angular Momentum is slated to open a line of boutiques in the Middle East where this and other artistic watches will be showcased.

Woodford Reserve Ltd. Ed. 2009 Kentucky Derby Bottle

Woodford Reserve, the “Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby”, crafted at the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky in the heart of thoroughbred country, has released its limited edition 2009 Kentucky Derby liter-sized bottle (right) featuring artwork by retired jockey Tom Chapman.

Chapman’s eye-catching image captures the excitement and intensity of the Kentucky Derby as two jockeys in brightly-colored silks concentrate on the race with the historic Twin Spires of Churchill Downs in the background. The artist’s signature adorns the neck band of the bottle, and an attached tag bears information about the artist and product.

Woodford Reserve, an award-winning small-batch bourbon, has served as the Derby’s official bourbon for the past 11 years. It also sponsors a Grade I race, the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, which is run on Derby Day, May 2, 2009, and has become one of thoroughbred racing’s premier events.

“Much as we try, it’s impossible to express in words the intensity of racing from a jockey’s perspective,” Chapman says. “My goal is to capture it with a paint brush and canvas, often using unique angles and vibrant colors to set the tone. But no painting can truly capture the vibrancy and intensity of the Kentucky Derby.”

Newton Vineyard’s Eco-Chic Wine Tasting Bar

•April 8, 2009 • Leave a Comment

newtontastingbar

The rather amazing piece of furniture shown above is an eco-chic wine tasting bar created by U.K. designer Claire Danthois in partnership with Newton Vineyard. The six-foot bar is constructed of 100% reclaimed materials including wood from barrels once used to age Newton’s Icon Label wines, as well as 300 year-old oak barrels acquired from a wine merchant in England. The 112 segments of oak symbolize Newton estate’s 112 distinct vineyard blocks. The glass shelving and steel cables holding the bar together were reclaimed from an architectural site.

There are five bars, one will stay permanently at Newton Vineyard estate and others will be showcased at a series of Newton “Unfiltered” events in 2009 in New York City, London and Tokyo. One bar will be sold at auction later in the year with estimate of $20,000 and 100% of the proceeds going to Global Green USA, a non-profit dedicated to curtailing global climate change through the creation of green buildings and communities
